Ms. Kathleen Watson

Director of Tampa People, The Honor Foundation

Where were you born and raised?
Born in Baltimore, MD. Raised in Bad Aibling, Germany and Woodland Park, CO.

What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
In 2014 I decided to step back from 20+ years of working with the US Government to create and manage multiple family businesses in new industries. That coupled with my transition from the Washington, DC area to FL in 2010 made for a lot of new and uncomfortable experiences. That said, discomfort creates growth and I am grateful for all I have experienced, learned and built.

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
Slow down and be more precise.

Your Personal Why?
Health, family and community.

How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
Sharing what we know to enable others to fulfill their full potential is a lasting and meaningful gift. THF exemplifies my WHY. They provide services and support to promote health, they support the SOF family unit and further invite participants to become life long members of the THF family and they are actively engaging in the communities where they work to create partnerships and opportunities where none may exist.

Military connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
My family has extensive military and government service experience. I grew up with my dad deployed with Special Operations much of my childhood. My mother worked full time, raised our family and supported my dad as best and how she could. I have observed the personal sacrifice a family makes in the service of our great nation and I am both grateful and in awe of those that make that professional decision. Later in life my brother chose to serve in the Navy, my husband in the Air Force and I served the intelligence community. I have been surrounded by amazing patriots my entire life and I am grateful to continue to play a role in supporting the next professional chapter for this community of talented individuals.

Favorite THF Value, and why?
EXEMPLIFY TRUST
My interaction with the world is embodied in relationships and data. With strong relationships most, if not all, problems can be resolved. Trust is the corner stone of any strong relationship, personal or professional. Handling a stranger, family member, friend, colleague or partner’s thoughts, feelings or ideas with respect, care and consideration costs nothing and earns us satisfactory and healthy life long relationships.

Area/Industry of expertise:
Government services and advanced technology, the fine arts (music) and health and wellness (human performance).
